What is the PTA?

The Desert Shadows Elementary School PTA (DSES PTA) was formed as a non-profit organization to promote the welfare of our students, facilitate a united relationship between home and school, and to support the teachers and administration both financially and in the classroom.

WHY SHOULD YOU JOIN THE DSES PTA?

The DSES PTA supports Students, Teachers and Administrators!

The DSES PTA provides financial and volunteer support to our classrooms and administrative needs. Here is a sample of items that PTA presently funds or has funded recently with the support of members like you:

Over $8,000 in STEAM initiatives for DSES
Electronic Marquee at the street
A state-of-the-art sound system for the Multi-purpose Room
Spring Carnivals
Family Bingo Night
Scholastic Bookfair
$1500 toward the DSES Art & Ceramic Program
$200 annual grant for every staff PTA member who submits receipts
$1500 support for Annual School Musical
$4000 annual grant to support School Technology
Ribbons for all students for Field Days and Fun Day
White Books/Memory Books for each classroom
Over $2000 to support the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program
$4,000 for furnishings for a NEW Science Lab
Over $7,300 in Grants for Teachers development & classroom needs including: Subscriptions to magazines and online programs
- Classroom storage solutions
- New books for ALL classrooms and school library, as needed
- Items to help out with Science experiments for all grade levels
- Learning aides for Reading and Math for multiple grade levels
- Educational Videos

The DSES PTA is still looking to fund the following, with your help!

Continued partnership with the DSES staff helping to fund the growth and advancement of the STEAM implementation in our school
Continued enhancement of the DSES school library
Continued support on the latest and greatest Technology available to our students
School beautification including, planters, flowers, trees, curb appeal and what ever your imagination can come up with to make this the best looking school in PVUSD
Continued support to our Specials (Music, Art & PE)
Support STEAM training for our entire staff!!

The DSES PTA sponsors informational pieces and community events that provide communication and strong community bonds, like our weekly email blasts, SharkBytes.
